RipStik Coaster Board

A few years ago you couldn’t drive through your neighborhood without seeing a kid riding on a Razor Scooter. Sharper Image introduced these to the world and they took off. Now Sharper Image is now selling a new kind of “carving machine” that looks to marry traditional skateboards with the Razor Scooter.

The RipStik Coaster Board is an ingenious new way for kids to get around and pull off cool tricks. It is shaped like a q-tip with only two wheels, similar to a Razor Scooter, one the front and one on the back. What makes this board unique over a traditional skateboard or scooter is that no pushing is necessary to make it go forward. The rider simply has to twist the RipStik Coaster Board back and forth and this generates forward momentum. There is a bar in the center (what gives RipStik Coaster Board its interesting look) that can be used for grinding, similar to skateboards. Turning is simply done by shifting the weight or your feet to go either left or right.

You can pick this future trend up at SharperImage.com. It sells for about $100. The RipStik Coaster Board comes in silver, red, and blue. It measures just under 3’ long and weighs about 8 pounds.
